    DSLR

Which DSLR is good to use with a telescope?   I am thinking of getting a canon xsi and heard they were good.

    Re: DSLR

any late model canon would be good- the Xsi seems the most popular due to the low price tag over the *d models,  i chose the XS myself and gave up the wireless remote in the XSi( which i wouldnt need) and the 14bit raw versus 12 bit in the XS, i liked the lower cost, lighter weight, and larger pixels in the XS

I went ahead and got the xsi on amazon.com  I found this deal

Canon Rebel XSi w/18-55mm IS and 55-250mm IS lenses for $645 (Instant)
Canon just started a new instant rebate program for some camera/lens combos yesterday. One instant rebate offer is $200 off instantly if you buy the Rebel XSi kit and the 55-250mm IS lens together. Amazon has the XSi kit for $600 and the 55-250mm lens for $245 which totals to $845. You won't see the instant rebate of $200 until you get to the checkout screen. Add a 50mm f1.8 lens to this deal and you have an excellent DSLR starter set.

    Re: DSLR

I am so excited.  I've waited so long.  I figured I would have paid close to 645 for the camera and lens and now I get the telephoto lens free.    Will either of these lenses help me take awesome pictures of the moon or stars without a telescope?

youll get some lunar shots, though not very large, without tracking  'stars' will be tuff, you might try something bright like the pleides using 15 second exposures and a high ISO

I just got my camera and tried to take a night shot of some stars and it wouldn't take a picture.  Is this because it's too dark.
