I wondered if the Moon is natural?

I read a lot of articles that said the Moon is a hollow celestial. Do you think so? And if you are agree with the articles, how do you prove that?

Re: I wondered if the Moon is natural?

Sorry, but it is natural and it is NOT hollow, as your blog suggests.

The Moon's orbit is NOT circular, as you state in your blog.

A low density for an object does NOT mean that it must be hollow (high porosity and/or hollow spots are possible, not required). Reread the NASA reports from the lunar seismic experiments.

Nothing requires a celestial object to have a substantial magnetic field. Lack of a magnetic field is not per se evidence of a hollow body.

Which 6 elements are present in lunar rocks, that are not present in terrestrial rocks?

Read those NASA sources again, as you obviously misread them the first time. And if you have a source for the 9-billion-year-old date for lunar samples, please cite it.

Thank you for your answering! But do you know the famous English scientist Dr. Wilkins? He wrote a book named 《Our Moon》. It is said the Moon is a hollow celestial. Do you think he is wrong? And I heard that a lot of scientists think that the Moon is hollow.

I think you must be reading science fiction. No reputable scientist (certainly no astronomer or geologist) would seriously believe the Moon is hollow.

While there are still many mysteries (which is why we want to go back there), the Apollo missions pretty much answered the basic questions about the Moon's genesis and morphology.

You should re-read the NASA articles. I can highly recommend any of William K. Hartmann's books on planetary geology.

Dr. Wilkins published his book in the 1950s. I was not aware it said the Moon is hollow. He is most famous for his work on two lunar maps: the 100" and the 300" Maps of the Moon. While he was an accomplished seleonographer of his time, it must be said that some of the detail in his maps simply did not correspond to any real selenographic feature. He died prior to the age of lunar exploration, so he could not have known what we know today about the Moon.

Read Modern Moon, by Charles Wood, for more recent information. Hartmann's Moons and Planets goes into more detail about how we know what we know about the Moon.

Thank you very much. I will find the book that you recommended me immediately.

Wow if they found 9 billion year old rocks on the moon that would have totaly changed the age of the earfth, by making it over 5 billion years older than it is....hhmmm...I haven't heard of this...would have been a major discovery...I would like to see that reference

    Not even close. Please read:

It stands to reason that it is easier to find rocks slightly older on the Moon than Earth due to the latter's active and constant geology.

The oldest rocks found on the Earth today are meteorites. As has been mentioned, terrestrial rocks are recycled, so this is not surprising.

There are places on the Moon (we now know from Apollo sample studies) where catastrophic recycling has occurred, but by comparison with terrestrial rocks, most lunar rocks are very ancient. There are places on the Greenland shield and in Australia where ancient rocks have been found but even these are not as old as, for example, some of the minerals in the Allende meteorite.

Ok The age in that agrees with the predicted age of the earth of 4.6 billion years old. Where did 9 billion years come from in this thread.

Yep, going to be tough keeping them out of the indoor pool once we know there is plenty of water up there.

I imagine the Moon is 'natural' unless I'm confused on what you mean by that term. It's sure not artificial?

If the moon were to be hollow, wouldn't that lack the ability to create gravity? For which we used to walk on for the first time

The craters in the moon  were caused by impacts of objects flying through space .If it were hollow, the moon may of easily shattered.

Re: I wondered if the Moon is natural?

i didnt read the blog, but i have heard a few times, most recently since LCROSS impact (failure?).

people were trying to explain as to why it didnt make a noticable plume. The hollow idea came around a lot after that.

If the moon were hollow, wouldnt the big asteroid impacts be more than a crater? I think skhafford is right in saying it would have shattered.

of course you have guys (enter kooks) such as richard hoagland who says that the moon has a glass roof around it and ancient ruins. he trys to prove the roof theory by jacking up the contrast on images of the moon so much that you can see the pixelation that used to be shading of the area around the moon. i think i would believe the ancient ruins before the hollow idea or roof theory.

the whole thing is about as laughable as the hollow earth theory.

Sorry, but what is a "hollow celestial"?????????? Do you mean like the Ring Nebula?

And, didn't we land on the moon?

I guess if someone is a skeptic, then no matter what is stated or what you tell them, they will still never believe. They will only believe whatever they WANT to believe.

As to proving it...I guess on a personal level, you just can't. It's impossible. I was not on the lunar lander. So personally, I can't relate. But I know it to be true. Just like WW2. I know that it happened. Though I wasn't around at the time. I know it was a real war. Some things you just believe and some you don't. For most people, having relics handed down to them, or seeing pictures or documnetaries is enough proof. For others, they are just images and they hold no real value of evidence that things like that existed or happened.

If the moon was hollow it would not have as much mass and would not have as great as an effect on the tides....The people who chart the tides would have seen something strange in their calculations if the moon was hollow....I think it is a greater reality that it is made of cheese

The moon is flat. That´s why you always see the same side. So it can´t be hollow.
