    Summer Pentagon??

I thought for sure this was a recognized constellation, I've seen it since I was small, but I can't find it as a recognized thing... If you locate the summer triangle and look at Altair you will see a shape of a almost perfect pentagon with the lower left hand point slightly in.. Can anyone help me with this??

I believe you might be referring to Pisces.

The asterism in Pisces is often referred to as the Circlet.

    Is this it?

Or could you be referring to the Teapot in Sagittarius? This might be more likely.

    Re: Summer Pentagon??

That is a popularly recognized constellation and the name is right there in your pictures. It the Constellation Aquila just to the of the northern cross, aka Cygnus. Most people recognize it by the three brighter stars with Altair the middle, or the diamond shaped asterism. Your description of a pentagon describes Pisces more than that, at least I think so anyways.

    Re: Summer Pentagon??

I think I have figured it out.. the answer is.. I'm seeing pentagons all over the place, a few different ones.. I do believe the one I remember most from being young in the peices one. The one around altair that I drew is one is similar enough that I must have confused it with the circlet, the circlet minus the further most right star in that picture above is what I've seen... Interesting to notice that I have a growing number of pentagon shapes that I see in stars... thank you for helping me everyone
