    choosing the right binoculars

     Hello!  My friend who has come with me observing with my scopes many times loves looking at the stars but doesnt like using a telescope.  She says she has a hard time keeping still enough to see through the eyepieces...  Who knows...  Anyway.  I was telling her how she can use binoculars to observe and she flipped out.  Now she wants to get a decent pair that wouldnt be too heavy for her to hold up.  She is a pretty skinny girl  and not the strongest...  Anyone have any suggestion on this matter?

    If she has access to a tripod or a mount of some sort then the size and weight wouldn't be a factor.  10 X 50's are about the largest ever recommended for hand held use, but if she is of slight stature maybe 7 X 50's like these would be a better fit;

     Man, I didn't realize that Telescopes.com had reduced their price on binoculars so much. With that large selection, there shouldn't be a problem finding a pair that's in the budget.

    The Nikon Action is the cheaper brother to the Nikon Action Extreme ATB, which is a much better binocular overall.  The 8x40mm would give her a wider FOV than the 7x50 Nikon.

    My own personal preference is the Pentax PCF WP II models, which give her a sharper view all the way out to the edge.  But the FOV is narrower.

    I would recommend the Pentax 8x40mm PCF WP II binocular.
