The 'Mexico' region of the North America Nebula

I have been away for a week or so and it has taken a while to get round to completing the processing on this one but I finally managed it a couple of nights ago. This is the bottom section of the North America Nebula (NGC7000) and as the title indicates, it does indeed look a little like Mexico! I used a different processing technique to normal to get the saturation and detail I knew was in there waiting to be released. I hope you like it.

Ohhh, very nice! I used to get some fairly decent results with film on NGC7000, but since I've been trying digital I haven't  mastered the technique to bring out detail yet.

Stupendous.  Did you use your 10" scope?  Is the picture on your home page with your wide field?  Thanks.

Nice photo. This would make a great first frame in a mosaic of this large nebula.

This image and the one on my home page were both taken with my 80mm ED Refractor and SXVF-M25C camera. The home page image is a mosaic of two tiles, the 'Mexico' image is a crop from a full frame image. In both cases I stacked 17 subframes of 400 seconds each.

Thanks for your comments folks. Richard, the NA nebula is a beautiful object on it's own (as is the Pelican Nebula) but zooming in on smaller sections does show that part images can stand on their own too. I was lucky with the sky that night, its been zero ever since!

     Nice, no... Really nice.

It's on par with if not better than a DSS image!
