High Res video of Jupiter from the 20th

Hello everyone.  Below is a link to a super high res video of Jupiter.  The seeing was just too good to be true and while the GRS was not present, there was plenty of other storms to watch as well as two moons zipping about the disk.  Again modem users beware, its 9 meg and its best to download prior to viewing. Clear Skyz, LA :)

That's an awesome video Larry, even without the GRS. The movement of the moons makes up for the GRS not being present.

    Nice!

I too managed to get some images last night, or this morning rather, as the object is finally high enough over the tree lines here to make it worthwile, and the sky wasn't overcast! The GRS was not visible for me either, but with a 10 hour rotation it rotates 2.4 times per day, so tonight the other side will be visible at roughly the same time. Still lots of time for some good observing before Jupiter is out of view.

Also saw for the very first time a wisp of Andromeda with my 10x50 binos! Had to wait until about 2am for it to come up.

Andromeda with binos?  It sounds like you have excellet dark skys out there.  I'll bet the images come out good.  Here in the DFW area alot of the stars are washed out with light pollution.  Clear Skyz, LA

Very nice video.  I have no idea how you make it so smooth.  Awesome job.

Not really,  allI saw was a faint glow like a small cloud, nothing like the impressive images showing a spiral. I only knew that light was from Andromeda, having studied the star charts alot in that region lately.

    But thats another story... :)

Impressive how those Gallilean moons swing round each other in that video!

The shoot from last night was pretty neat and I caught IO passing in front of Jupiter.  I should that that one posted in a few days.  Clear Skyz, LA
