    Jupiter GRS Transit Video

I took this on the 19th.  The seeing was pretty good on this day so I took my 5 inch Tak out for a spin.  The transit was amazing.  The video is around 3 meg so modem users beware.  It plays better if you download it before viewing it.

Awesome Awesome Awesome!!! What was the interval between each image? About 1 minute or so? I tried this on my last posting...at 10 minute intervals. Of course, after 80 minutes the clouds rolled in and ruined the movie. I got the GRS transitting from beginning to just over half-way thru the disk before kaput....

Well done. I think next time I do a movie it will be at 2 minute intervals instead of 10 minutes...

Either interval should be good, just keep in mind the longer the interval the more frames you'll need.  I use Registax to make the movie and it sets the frame rate at 30fps, so as long as you keep the intervals regular over the duration it should come out good.  Smoothness comes from fast play back.

Thanks Kev and Oliver.  The zoom in feature is where I decided to switch from wide field to closeup imaging.  2.5x Powermate to 5x Powermate.  I wanted the transition to be as smooth as possible so I used the same technology that they used on Terminator 2.  I morphed the smaller image into the closeup image and it provided the seamless appearance of what you'd expect a zoom in to look like.  Tricky but well worth the added headache I think.  I'm working on my second video and should be posting a link sometime tonight.  Clear Skyz, LA :)
