The idea of a poll is to present a question to conduct a survey.  However, It seems as though this area has been turning into just another Off Topic discussion forum.  One is more than enough for us to monitor.

Please try to keep your question in this area in the form of a poll /survey, and, as the description for this area indicates, astronomy related polls.  From this point forward I will do my best to keep this area clean and free of subjects not in the form of a Poll and off topic to this area.  From now on any that don't comply will be relocated to a more appropriate discussion forum.  If it Belongs in the Off topic forum please keep it there. 

Most of the discussion areas are self explanatory as to what belongs in them. However, for those that aren't there are descriptions below the title for that area.

BTW: Our Poll system here allows only one question. If you have a legitimate need for a poll with up to 10 questions, you can use the free service at SurveyMonkey.com and post a link to your poll there here in the Polls area. A number of members have done that here and I think it works quite well.

What if I had an off-topic poll? Where should I post it?

Most people are posting polls as simple questions in a message (i.e., without using the Poll feature itself), so you could just start a thread in Off-topic Discussions.

Or you could set up a survey at SurveyMonkey and put a link to it in a message in Off-topic Discussions -- that would be better if you have multiple questions or want a poll feature to collect statistics on the answers.

Actually, You can start a thread in the form of a Poll in any of the forums. This one just happens to be set up for Astronomy Related Polls. 
When you start a new thread look at the top of the text editor. You should see 6 tabs at the top.
"Compose, Options, Video, Poll, Related, and Preview".

Type your message then click the Poll tab and click/check the box where it says "include a poll in this post". Follow the instructions to insert it where you want within the body of your post.

Religious and Political discussions are prohibited even as a Poll, however, most any other topic is permitted provided it is compliant with all Forum and Web Site Policies.
