  I would buy a 500 acre ranch near Tucson, Arizona, US astronomy paradise.  I would then construct a million+ dollar observatory campus ( i.e., all they gave me minus what the Mrs. withholds...), with 5-10 telescopes in the 16-24 inch range, and the jewel of the campus: a 1.5 meter f/6 newtonian/sct hybrid replete with CCDs, Spectrometers, and alll the other awesome fixins.   All would be domed, and open for rental by private citizens who could stay at the campus 'monastery' while they bask in astronomy heaven.  I would invite any prominent lecturers in physics and astronomy who would lower themselves by speaking to the masses (who largely support their esoteric careers thorough gov't funding!!!!).  I wouold promote science and astronomy education so that we could produce more geeky star worshippers like me!!

   And I would have dancing girls.

  And clowns.  There has to be clowns.

A two-story home in Arizona Sky Village, Swarovski binoculars, a really sporty car (like the Morgan Aeromax), and finally a 20" unobstructed reflector.

Well i'm afraid Astronomy doesn't come first here. As a British resident the jackpot is quite low. Around 8 Million. Then a few others win at the same time leaving you with only around 1-2 Million.

Therefore my purchases would be a house down in Coverack, (Dark sky area) and a Jaguar XKR (Not the latest version, but the one before that. It looks better!) Of course I will have to keep some to look after these two purchases. Any left over woul be used to buy the biggest scope I can afford.

If I was to only use it on Astronomy, I would get a large scope built on an area near the equator and use it as a robotic scope.  

I would get a twenty-five inch scope and a cabin with an observation deck in the Adirondacks.

Well I already live in the woods, so I would have to say I would buy an eyepiece.

And a wench, for all my new friends..

Like Stargzr, a cabin in the sticks. I think I'd build the observatroy on the roof, heated, with a serving wench.

 I'm not sayin' I wouldn't buy some stuff, but for me the most important thing a big chunk of money would buy is freedom. You would have to hang on to quite a bit of the money to keep that.

I don't buy tickets unless the group at work does. I don't want to be the only one left.

Very nice...close to what I would pick:

25' foot Parker Cabin Cruiser (for fishing), A small island in the Atlantic (within 100 miles of the equator), 20" RC telescope fully computerized and automated to be used remotely from my mansion on the other side of the island and a small airport with my own sea-plane to fly in and out of.

Then, depending on how much I won, I would start building a new space vehicle and launch my own telescope (CST...Caggiano Space Telescope). This would also be controlled from my mansion on Caggiano Island (the one just north of the equator).

E Types are classic. But as Top gear showed they need a few modifications on the suspension, brakes and cooling to be superb. But if I went for a classic car it would be an AC car. Now that is nice!

i would buy first class seats on the virgin space shuttle, then there would be no money left but hey ho what a holiday buzzin!!!

I would buy a nice telescope and build the Tower of Box, 3 to 5 stories high for observation of the heavens, day and night.

Then, buy ( or build) a nice little house in the country with about 3 arces where I could keep rescued animals.

Then, I'm a freelance photogrpaher, so I would buy the big glass lenses I can't afford right now, the 300, & 400mm 2.8 lenses. I have both a 300 & 400mm lens but there the slower  F/5.6. ones

Then, get me some nice CCD gear.. and pay someone to teach me how to use it! LOL.

 Then, put away whats evers left. LOL
