    Double Star in Ophiuchus

Observing double stars last night from my back yard using the 10" LX90 with the 17mm Nagler eyepiece.  Observed several in Hercules and Lyra, then went over to Ophiuchus in the southeast sky (somewhat less light pollution in that direction).  Several nice ones to observe, but was particularly drawn to SAO-122843 at RA 17hr52.0min Dec +01°07" - easy separation of the mag 6.5 and 7.0 double (81.8" separation), but there was a nice carbon star (SAO-122861) in the fov.  Worth taking a look:

That is a very pretty grouping.

    Thanks for the look,

NCTiger  -  If you like doubles, especially colorful ones, visit the Saguarro Astronomy Club site for downloading double star lists as well as other DSOs.  Their lists will suite your scope size nicely.

Wishing you success in splitting those really close ones and hope the site is useful to you, Mr Q
