    Phillips SPC900NC mounted

i wanted to get your feedback on something i came up with today at work, bored out of my mind.

my wife demanded her point and shoot back, and i havent gotten a MOGG adaptor for my webcam yet so it got me thinking on a way to mount it for now...

what i did was take a piece of aluminum stock, 9/32 clearence hole, and a 1/4-20 tapped hole, and calculated that the tripod mounting hole could not reach a 90 degree angle, it was more like 120 degreese.

so doing some math , i came up with a 30 degree bend

i then mounted it on my SteadyPix camera mount, and put an eyepiece on it to see how close i could get it.

bingo, right on , i love math

i wonder if this is going to work though , i still have a few obstacles to fix though , 1, my hard drive on my crap laptop isnt large enough to store the webcam files, and i dont have a long enoughUSB cable to use my PC, and alck of tracking isnt going to let me run in and out praying its still in view, and the weather is to crappy to test it out.

but i was wondering if anyone has attempte dthis method, or anything simular

pic below, you can clearly see the shiny bent plate....this is up to a 25mm eyepiece just for test fit purposes

I have used eyepiece-projection methods with a Webcam for shooting the Moon, but not successfully with anything else. The field of view will be very, very small and the magnification will be very, very high. That makes things difficult.

It seems you're pretty handy. So, while waiting for your Mogg adapter, you could make your own from a black plastic 35mm film canister. If you don't have one, you could ask for a cast-off at a local photofinisher.

These are 1.25" in diameter, so will fit the focuser's eyepiece tube very well.

You remove the lens from the Webcam. You cut the bottom out of the 35mm film can. Then you hot-glue the film can to the front of the Webcam.  Use the slow-setting (soft, low-temperature) glue and you can reposition the tube more easily until you get it right.
