    Re: Zhumell 20x80

Thought I'd put my 2 cents in..... bought the Zhumell 20x80s on ebay for $56 (+$20 for shipping) and used them for the first time last night. Any binos this large need a tripod but didn't have the same issues that have been talked about. Checked out the moon this morning and was impressed with the clarity! Bought these because I am going on an across the U.S. vacation at the beginning of July and can't bring either of my 10" scopes. I am sure there are better binos out there and probably would have spent at least 2x or more than what I did, but all should consider what funds are available. Should be able to get some dark skies somewhere in the U.S.! Certainly don't have them here in L.A.!!! Dave

    Monchito,

You were one of the lucky ones, good for you.

I can handhold my 30x80mm binoculars, from a sitting position, just for 'scanning' the heavens.

If you handhold frequently it will become quite enjoyable after plenty of practice.

well i rather do it that way to be honest especialy when you point the bino toward the zenith and because if i see something that i want to see real fast on the tripod would be really difficult just trying to get it in position of unscrewing it off by the time i do that whatever it was may be gone,,as long as i have a place where to rest my arms i have been able to use these big binos woth no problem whatso ever................

    John,

Good to hear from you after your somewhat lengthy sabbatical.

I've picked up a few used binos since your last visit.  I found a couple at garage sales.

Also, one from a deceased relative, & another from a deceased individual's estate, sold thru astromart.

There has been a couple of deaths, in the family, since last December.

Other than that, I'm still poking along.

    Stan
