Yin Yang is the oldest theory of Everything and Everything is the Universe. It appeared in history 3400 years ago written on oracle bones in China. Its coin symbol was first found 3000 years ago. Did a cave man create it? Should he get the Nobel Prize?
We look for beginnings to create a Universe. We abstract from a set of our statistical proved observations to create our theories and see if those abstractions of essential features (called theories) will clarify and predict new observation. Can the cave man help us?
Our semantics get us into trouble because our words together with their meanings are not based on new experience gleaned from Modern Physics (which is based on “very new” and recent statistically sound observation).
Those words with their meanings are based on the past experience of a species of animal that has only very recently emerged with what we call intelligence. Those words crave the stability of past human experience. The very meaning of the word beginning (to start a theory of the Universe) is extremely biased by very old past Human experience. Today the largest question of Cosmology is, "Did the Universe have a beginning?"
The word beginning is “The time at which something is supposed to begin.” even that is suspect. It contains the word begin or “Take the first step or steps in carrying out an action.” and that also is suspect as it implies the temporal order of a first step.
We think with words. These are the ways we have to think using our meaning of words. This “time” is built into our very nature as Humans. I view everything in terms of a balance or symmetry between things as that helps me to get an overview of things. This is the ancient “Yin Yang Universe” theory of Everything -- that I think needs the benefit of newer and even the very latest evidence of observation (as abstracted by Modern Physics Theories). Even those theories rely on our meaning gleaned from our ancient words. I wonder if the ages old concept of a -- Yin Yang Universe -- can help.
We try to be reasonable but it is very difficult as we have to think with words that mean something different than what we observe and try to describe. Most scientists want everything to have a reason and even until his death Einstein wanted “cause and effect” and argued for it as a primary principle.
Cause and effect is an ordered concept, and implies an order in time (the cause precedes effect and is earlier in time). Bohr abandoning cause and effect and even Gödel proving a case of Einstein's own General Relativity to show there could be a “World Without Time” upset Einstein no end.
The question is can there be both? Both cause and effect (of past and future) and a now (of no time at all to still live in)? In trying to rationalize this I can only resort to the old Yin Yang Universe. It has two parts, 1. us the "now" observer and 2. the rest is everything else. But even that coin can be flipped with the Universe being no time at all and us being time. It all depends how you look at things. But that depends on memory. How can that be?
In order to think we require memory. Without memory of the past, there is no time for us. Have you ever had surgery and wake up with a lost feeling where you lost the memory of the surgery. To you it is just as though the 6 hours you spent in surgery is lost without the memory of it. The same would be true of 10 billion years of surgery where the memory of the past was lost. When you try and understand what time is -- to us -- it all depends on memory. Memory holds our past in our minds. It holds our whole history in books. And now it holds most everything in computer memory. Because we can review it from our NOW, where we live, we can see that it is consistent with a thing "we" call time where there is cause and effect.
Our whole belief system is based on cause and effect. We see these steps of cause and effect that are used in our definition of begin or beginning. You can't blame Einstein for believing in cause and effect. Now, by Yin and Yang the question is since “we” require cause and effect we ask does the other side of the coin (The Universe) require cause and effect? To answer that we have to go to a higher level of Yin and Yang.
The Universe is Everything and naturally it contains both the past and future. The "now" is reserved by Yin and Yang for "us" (which is our illusion caused by memory). We have to ask, "Is memory required for the Universe"? At first glance you think that without knowing the past, there can be no future. But that is based on the concept of free will -- where by free will we can choose to go back and look it up -- using memory. Humans to exist require memory.
Humans like to calculate using mathematics (something always stable like our meaning of 1 or 2 or 3...). But even mathematics requires memory and is a human construct. We tell ourselves that memory holds the past and predicts the future and if everything were known we could calculate it by cause and effect – which requires time and beginnings between every step of cause and effect. We already agree that Everything contains the past and future. This simply means that the Universe is a solid -- as all events are contained as a whole. For the Universe everything is predetermined. For us there is the illusion of free will, but even Humanity is an illusion living in a NOW requiring memory.
By Yin and Yang I contend that depending on which side of the coin you stare at, either we or the Universe is an illusion, and when you look at both sides at once in the net the whole thing is an illusion requiring NOTHING. If the Universe required memory to exist, it would be like us living only in a now. First consider how much memory is required to contain a gnat (there are lots of gnats). Every atom in the gnat has a place and are changing with regard to other atoms and all the pattern that makes a gnat would require a computer much much larger than any finite Universe even to hold all the memory required to even have a gnat in a static sense. Extrapolating all the “trillion body problems” required to solve and to know what the gnat was going to do next, would require even larger computer memory even if bits were stored at Planck length. So where is all this required memory to even have a gnat – much less a whole Universe?
By this process of elimination ab absurdum we find that the Universe must be a solid with everything such as events and places and times not requiring memory and The Universe must of necessity be a predetermined solid (which I abbreviate to the single word solid).
Take free energy (quanta) – in physics we say that light has velocity or a ratio of our old words space and time. We know that between inertial frames it is always some amount of time and some amount of space and requires an equation to view that, but using just another inertial frame than we calculated in the first results we find we require some “other” amount of space and some “other” amount of time. Where is all the memory for that -- the Universe requires? Of course we know about gnats and abandon that thought.
We know that for the Universe to be a solid does not require “anything” -- it is just there. It is predetermined (whatever that means). It is postdetermined (whatever that means). It is not even determined by anything or anyone – it needs a new word -- it is a Solid Universe. It requires no memory because everything is there. By Yin and Yang, its "now" is Everything and because it has nothing “new” it requires no memory. But what about free energy (quanta)?
Because the Universe is a solid, free energy is merely relations that exist in the solid. The photon never “left” and “arrived”. Where it “was” is there in the solid and where it “arrives” is there also. Light velocity is a fiction. For the Universe, it could care less about rolling dice. Everything is already fixed and is a solid. For the observer (us) dice are rolled as we only live in a NOW. We crave our memory to allow prediction.
Can our past see the future (we are now)? We tell ourselves we have free will and experiments for Bell's theorem are based on free will. Free will is an illusion. By Yin and Yang, for the Universe we are an illusion. For the Universe there is no “cause and effect” but for you or Einstein, there is cause and effect and time and memory and space.
Bohr and Gödel were looking at one side of the Yin and Yang coin and Einstein was looking at the other side. The truth must be that there are two sides -- so the Yin and Yang Universe is still alive -- as it was 3400 years ago. Quantum physics is explained by looking at both sides of the coin. Our misunderstanding is due to requiring a solid Universe to have memory to store everything. A photon can not leave without arriving and all information is "already" contained in the now of a Solid Universe (without requiring the memory or a Human now). A Universe does not calculate trajectory. That is for Humans to do using memory and Human inventions.
We ask ourselves, "What is reality?" and the answer is unchanged from our old old definition of the word: "All of your experiences that determine how things appear to you." It can be a personal call and vary -- as opposed to some definitions that say: "not imaginary", illusions can be reality and differ. It is purely a Human concept.
Reality for us and for the Universe differ.
The now of the Universe -- is Everything.
Our now is memory.
A Universe doesn't need memory because it is solid.
We require memory because we live in NOW.
Our illusion of free will requires memory.
On our side of the coin we have our free will.
On the other side of the coin is a Solid Universe.
The Universe has no memory or free will, it is solid.
The Devil is in the details (memory).
Einstein was right (the Universe preserves cause and effect).
The Universe does not play dice (it already contains Everything).
Bell and Bohr were right (we preserve chance).
Humans play dice (we have free will to predict)
Universal reality proves our predictions wrong.
Yin and Yang is right (both sides exist together and both realities are illusions).
Humans require memory.
Humans require cause and effect.
Humans require free will.
We are an illusion.
The Universe is an illusion.
There is nothing -- but nothing is everything.
This Everything is the Yin Yang Universe
It is OUR very own reality and OUR illusion.
