    Messier Marathon - Spring 2007

    Messier Marathon 2007 - Huntsville, Alabama
    Beginning on the evening of April 20 2007


    In the Spring months, it's possible to log nearly all 110 of the objects in the catalog compiled by French astronomer Charles Messier in night of viewing. Join us for an night of observing as many of the objects in the Messier catalog as you can find.

    After our regular membership meeting begins at at 7:30, and we'll be up late to log as many of these "faint fuzzies" as possible. Members and guests are encouraged to participate and to bring your scopes. The public is welcome to join in - with or without telescopes.
    Location: VBAS  Planetarium and Observatories, Huntsville Alabama

    I believe that it not possible to log M30 during a marathon unless one is located below 35 degrees north latitude.

    Are you sure that is not 25° North Latitude.

    "Although a Messier marathon can be attempted from any northern latitude, low northern latitudes are best. In particular, a latitude of around 25° north lends the best possibility to complete a Messier marathon at the right time of year."

    No, I meant 35 degrees north, witness the outstanding success the All Arizona Messier Marathon (~33 degrees) has had.
