Do you want to be an Astronomy Volunteer?
Bryce Canyon National Park invites persons interested in volunteering with our 2007 astronomy program to submit resumes. Public stargazing, telescope tours, and full moon hikes have become very popular as people are drawn to the scenic beauty and dark magnitude 7 skies of southern Utah. Commitments of 4 or more weeks are sought, and housing will be provided no charge. Applicants should have a solid knowledge of the night sky, telescope operations, and possess good communication skills. Public outrech experience preferred. Positions start in April and continue through October. Those chosen will play an integral part in our robust interpretive programs? connecting the general public to the cosmos and teaching them about the effects of light pollution. Last year over 27,000 visitors attended an astronomy program at the park, made possible by 12 volunteers and 5 park rangers.
