M42 from the UK (much the same as it is everywhere else...)

     Hi Everyone,

I just joined the forum and thought I would post my first images. I took these images of the Great Orion Nebula from my back garden in London. After a lot of washed out images I decided to purchase the Orion Light Pollution filter and then I never looked back. These images were taken using my Meade 8" SNT with a Canon 350D, one minute exposures at ISO 1600. Unfortunately since these were taken in early November I haven't been fortunate to have a clear night since!! The weather really can be that bad over here.

    More images at:- http://www.space-and-telescope.com/ChrisOrionNebula.aspx

I hope to be posting more soon, including closeups of the Triangulum using a 2x 2" Barlow

    All the best

Thanks Greyhound. Will put some more on soon when I get a chance. Although can't do much about the clouds I might be moving away from London soon so maybe the accursed light pollution may be less of a problem soon!

    chippym22,

Well done with this one, this shows there`s real hope for me too,i live about 4 miles outside of Birmingham so my L/P is also pretty bad, seeing your image shows that its possible to get a good result even under these conditions.

I also got the 350D this year ,so am looking forward to shooting this one myself(weather depending of course.),i will be using it in conjunction with my 8" Skywatcher reflector at prime focus, dont have a L/P filter yet though.

     nice work,

    Tom.

    Good pic, especially from London.

As I've said for yonks, bristol isn't to bad for LP. At least where I live in bristol.

It's variable, but there can be great nights!
