RE: Regarding Images in Posts
Just click here and follow the directions for the description tag. The above sentence was also an example, the words "click here" took the place of the long url.

They do not allow uploading images directly to this site.. As long as
you have a web site to host your images you can insert them into the
body of the messagge when you post it.. All forum codes here are place
within brackets. [ ] To place an image in the message body like those
you have seen you would use the forum code for images which is img to begin the line. Then at the end of the line would be /img. I
will show you how it will look only with out the use of the brackets
that you will have to use. If I use them it will show you a little red
x thinking a picture should be there..
It would look something like this.
img http://www.IMGSatellite.com/u/123/45/example.jpg /img
No spaces need to be used between the forum code and the image location
URL.. Always make sure you use the brackets with the forum code.

Several codes you might want to know: [ URL ]the url of a site[ /URL ] [ IMG ]url of an image[ /IMG ] [ URL=url of a site]eg: Click here![ /URL ] [ URL=url of a site][ IMG ]url of an image[ /IMG][ /URL ]
Don't forget to remove all spaces from the codes above.

Re: Regarding Images in Posts
Is there a recommended size (in dimensions and resolution) for posted images? I just posted an image and found that it needed to be reduced in width in order for it to display properly in the forum. Thanks

Generally a width of about 600 or 640 is good enough on most forums. However this forum software automatically resizes the image to fit within the text window so you do not really have to worry about that. This does not reduce your image size in reality. If a member chooses to view the full sized image they only need to click their mouse on the image in your message and it will display the full size version in another window. Have A Nice ____________

I just did mine and I went to update profile then upload avatar and click browse, it then took me to my picture folder and I selected a picture, then click open and update and then save changes. I don't know if you need to have a picture downloaded from the internet into your picture folder first or not. Hope this helps and we'll chat on the other threads.

Are image based signatures acceptable practice? I noticed some folks have the clear sky graphic posted and wanted to make sure that the signature I had made is within the rules. If not I'll remove it.

So basicly if you don't have a website you can't post pics? Doesn't it cost to set up a web site? Out of luck here I guess.

I use photbucket, which is free and easy to use. My signature is hosted there. It's an easy copy of the IMG link and then, paste it to any post you like. www.photobucket.com

www.imageshack.us works well too if you don't want to set up an account on photobucket. I prefer photobucket for alot of things but I will use imageshack for long named url pics I want to show or to remain anonymous.

Hey fellow astro freaks, Is there any way to show this photo of my S.E.T.I. Project without clicking it? Can I make it smaller and permanent with my posts? NEVERMIND. I GOT IT! Thanks!
