    Aurora watching

Have you looked for aurorae because of the recent solar activity? If so, were you able to view the northern lights?

    Re: Aurora watching

Every time I get a chance to see the night sky, I'm looking
up. The last time I saw and aurora here in Central Texas
was in the mid to late 80's, it was beautiful for Texas. It was a pinkish orange in color and lasted quite a while. It
was in the northern sky, so I know it wasen't a sunset.
I have been hoping to see another one but only wonder if
and when it will show itself again. Maybe with all the solar
activity going on now, we down here in South Central Texas will be able to see another aurora. :)

Yes and no / yes (cause its the southern lights down these parts lol).  Wasnt as spectacular as hoped tho.  Moon influence was a problem to.

Interesting that September 2005 is the most active month since 1991.  So much for solar minimum around the corner.

If you really want to see the aurorae, take the trip to Iceland.
