On July 17/05 while observing in a little mountain side cemetary in Southern British Columbia I was treated to a short but very nice auroral display just around midnight. At first it started out as just a pillar of light and I thought that it was just a contrail. Then, it spread out into this curtain and began to move about the horizon. I only had B&W film in my camera from doing Milkyway panoramas earlier in the week but decided to try it out anyway. This shot was done using an old 35mm camera with a 55mm lens at f/2. 30 second exsposure on ISO 400 ilford B&W film. I'm quite surprised how well it showed considering the Moon was so bright.
