    Angry [:(!] Hoag's object

    PGC 54559 Hoag's object in Serpent

    We had a discussion on a Finnish stargazer's forum about this elusive galaxy. Has anyone observed this one visually? It is anyway a though one, and yet no one has observed this visually in Finland...at least as I know.

    I have definately heard of this object before... don't know if it was because I observed it, or I read about it, or I just saw it on my star charts....
    I will check it out tonight on my star charts to try to determine if I have observed it or not.

    This object has been observed by two amateur astronomers in Finland and by one in Sweden, all visually. Here is a photo of the object, by Finnish amateur astronomers.     http://heritage.stsci.edu/2002/21/big.html for another good reason to repair Hubble.
    I have not viewed it personally as of yet, but many big Dobsonian owners have. It will be on my viewing list for this summer.
