There were 4,000 nominations in 49 categories. Voting for the 2007 Weblog Awards began in October 2007.
The winners received their awards at the Blogworld and New Media Expo in Las Vegas November 9.
Of interest to sky fans, the winners for best science blog of 2007 are Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy and Steve McIntyre's Climate Audit. They tied for first place with 20,000 votes each.
Who is Phil Plait? In his own words: "I am an astronomer, writer, and skeptic. I likes reality the way it is, and I aims to keep it that way. My real name is Phil Plait, and I run the Bad Astronomy website."
He serves up a daily dose of commentary on astronomy, space science, and science-related issues, such as belief in UFOs and debates over evolution.
Climate Audit is devoted to the analysis and discussion of climate data. McIntyre, a former mining executive, is a critic of how some climate scientists have represented the climate record of the past 1,000 years.
