The Elephant Trunk Nebula (IC 1396A)

Also known as the Elephant’s Trunk Nebula, IC1396A is a small portion of the enormous, faint nebula complex, IC1396, located in southern Cepheus. This constellation is often overlooked because it doesn’t contain any Messier objects. And yet, it does have several photogenic deep-sky objects.

This is a 9 hour narrowband image taken with an 11" EDGE SCT and a QSI583wsg camera.

I took the image from Calgary Alberta.
