The Pelican Nebula (IC 5070) in Cygnus

IC5070, the Pelican Nebula, is an emission nebula located in Cygnus near the bright star Deneb. The nebula is a rich, star-forming region is located 1800 light years away. It is located near it's more famous neighbor, NGC 7000 - The North America Nebula, which can partly be seen in the top left of the image. Included within the North America Nebula is NGC 6997, an open star cluster. This cluster is likely very young and was discovered by William Herschel in 1786.
