Primordial, possible they may serve us for dinner. My guess is that they will need something we have.
I would ask, "How can we continue to communicate?" If the entity could tell me how to do that, then everything else would follow.
My son would ask, "How do I build a warp drive?" so he could go and visit the entity--once again, everything else would follow.I was pleased that we both thought of questions that offered the possibility of continuing the conversation. Perhaps someday a SETI researcher will have just such an opportunity.

Interesting responses. It makes you wonder about all those predictions that intersteller communications will fundamentally change humanity.
The Star Trek assumptions again are that they speak, use electronic means to communicate - instantaneously, and can translate without any knowledge of the language or culture.
The Star Trek episode which perhaps comes closest to realising the problems is 'Darmok'. The word 'Darmok' has 47 known meanings. Only 1 meaning is relevant and even that is used in metaphor. In the end it was only possible to work out its use because of similar cultural references - which was a big coincidence.
Say oops upside your head now I want all you gappers, and finger snappers you toe tappers and you love rappers. would be as useful as any request for knowledge. Neither would be understood, but it would at least indicate they were picking up some kind of life form and not random interference. - I think.
