Star explode in big dipper?

Star explode in big dipper?

Heard someone talking about a star that he saw exploed in the big dipper. Anyone know about this? Didnt even know you could see something like that.

I've found no mention of a recent nova or supernova in Ursa Major.  It most likely was a satellite flare.
