Hi everyone!

I know this is a longshot on such an international site, but i was wonder if anyone knows anything or anyone in this area (Warrington, cheshire) connected to astronomy clubs.

ive trawled the internet inc the official listings for details, but alas i have found nothing, of relevance

Cheers

 Hi everyone,

Ian, I too am looking for an astronomy club (or similar) in the Warrington area, did you manage to unearth anything regarding this?

Would be interested in setting one up if there is enough interest, I am new to astronomy though so would prefer a seasoned vet to assist.

 Cheers

Pete

hi pete

sorry for not getting back to you sooner, i ve been very busy this summer and have had very little time for star gazing, and to be honest i had kind of given up on this post! so its great to hear from you.

unfortunately i have uncovered little about clubs in the area, i believe there are some linked to the local universities (liverpool and manchester) and some out towards chester and the wirral, but none in the immediate area.

i suppose the best option would be to try and start something local, though how we would go about such a task i do not know, if you have any suggestions it would be great to hear from you.

looking forward to hearing from you!

 Ian

P.s. i am holiday as of 6th sept for two weeks so my response might be abit slow, depending on internet access.

 Hi Ian,

Thanks for getting back to me, I wouldn't really know where to start with starting up an astronomy club/society, I know there is quite a big one in Altrincham which I am going to visit at some point over the next few weeks, I suppose what we could do is try to gauge how much interest there is in Warrington, and also to find a good meeting place such as a hall or similar. I am quite new to astronomy (1-2 years) so any input from you would also be valued. As you are away on holiday for the next few, I shall go to ADAS in Altrincham and just see how things are run and find out a little bit about how I would go about setting something like this up. My e-mail address is texas-pete@hotmail.com if you want to contact me directly, and if needs be I will provide mobile number (though not on here obviously) if we need to arrange a meet.

Good to hear from you!

Pete

 Ian,

Also just as I was writing my last reply, I have had an e-mail from an astronomy group who meet at the Gateway (near Golden Gates) every other Friday afternoon - I believe this is a part-time astronomy course, kind of like a show and tell of things what they have done, as I am off work for a couple of weeks I will attend this and see if there is any interest at all from the current members there. The group leader is a guy called Eric, can provide phone number if you are at all interested in attending (though with you being on holiday over the next few weeks it might be difficult!).

Thanks again,

Pete

Hi there

I am very new to astronomy and I found this thread from searching for Astronomy club Warrington.

Has anyone been able to get anything going?  Did you make it down to the Altrincham club?

I had a little look on the Gateway website but they dont mention the Friday afternoon club (can't do Friday afternoon's either, as I work)

Thanks

Hi Everyone I am new to this but have been looking around a few places and the only thing I have found is a Telescope business Near Northwich that may be able to help better with what you/we need or require.. I am wondering if any of you have had any luck on finding anything out with regards any clubs in the area or any details about setting one up and the best way to do this!

Please feel free to contact me

Have you tried the Society for Popular Astronomy in the UK? Lots of clubs listed there, and members get discounts at various museums, planetaria, and retailers.

Come visit me at Comanche Springs Astronomy Campus (we're on Google Maps) in Texas.
